Health Clinic

The PAU Clinic serves the university community, as well as the surrounding communities that are close to the Koiari Park Campus.

The clinic has specialised nurses in certain areas of service, and are able to do referrals to the Port Moresby General Hospital.

The services provided by the clinic includes:

  • Daily Outpatient (Saturdays and Sundays standby for emergency cases)
  • Inpatient if anyone needs to be admitted according to the severity of the condition
  • Well-baby clinic for vaccinations twice a month
  • School health visit which is done yearly for grades one and six (Koiari Park Primary School)
  • Antenatal care for pregnant women (prevention of parent to child transmission) which means HIV and syphilis tests are done during the visit and may be referrals if noted complications to PMGH. This is done on Wednesdays, twice a month
  • Tuberculosis treatment is dished out if there are new cases and continuing on Tuesdays
  • HIV counseling and testing ART on hand (VCT), syphilis testing and (STI)treatment
  • Family services are done on Mondays
  • Referrals of outpatients, inpatients or emergencies if needed to PMGH for medical officer to see.
  • Supervisory of students during practical and working hours.
  • Monthly reporting to Provincial health office
