The single degree Master of Education program has a nested Postgraduate Diploma of Education designed for teachers or educational administrators or its equivalent. The course is an in-service level 9 degree offered by Pacific Adventist University, equivalent to 240 total credit points and 2400 volumes of learning hours over 2 years of studies in alignment with the Papua New Guinea National Qualification Framework (PNGNQF, 2016).
Socio-economic, political, technological, and philosophical forces are currently challenging the uniqueness and ethos of Adventist Christian Education. This course responds to the need for potential leaders to sustain and foster the Christian ethos of the schools within their care. In addition, this course responds to the increasing need for authentic spiritual leadership that is contagious and build needed leadership capacity in Christian education.
The course is a combination of coursework and research with a focus in Christian Educational Leadership and reflects high academic quality and rigour. The course is designed for practicing educators and administrators seeking training and acquisition of appropriate knowledge, skills, and dispositions to meet the leadership challenges in Christian educational systems. Furthermore, the course is designed to introduce students to the field of academic research and findings relating to the study program.
